To Sustain The Private Forest Landowner

Support Our Efforts

While a lot of organizations, policy makers, and media outlets talk about the need to sustain America’s private forest lands, we know that to do that someone has to have YOUR interests at the forefront.

Rest assured that the Forest Landowner Foundation  is working on your behalf to ensure your forest legacy passes to the next generation.

Achieving Success for You

As your strategic partner providing the private landowner perspective, we engaged with federal agencies, international governments, consumer packaged goods companies, retailers, and NGOs on the importance of free and open markets for sustaining healthy forests and the economic livelihood of forest landowners.

Our Goals

  • Maintain and increase the economic, environmental, and social value of private forest lands.
  • Facilitate discussions concerning stewardship and market access.
  • Increase usage of domestic forest products
  • Keep private working forests working for future generations.
  • Support the grassroots movement for private forest landowners.

Models of Transparency, Trust and Sustainability

Building trust isn’t just giving consumers and stakeholder more science, more research or more information. Research shows it’s about demonstrating that you share their values when it comes to topics they care about most, at-risk species, clean air and water, healthy ecosystems and sustainability of forests.

Forest Landowners Association has adopted 3 proven models of collaboration, transparency and trust building to increase the effectiveness of Forest Landowners Association’s Engagement programs. As we engage with forest stakeholders outside of the supply chain, we do so in accordance with the Transparency Model, Trust Model, and Sustainability Model.

The Transparency Model: Based on consumer trust research, seven elements define transparency and provide a basis for effectively addressing uncertainty about the stewardship of private working forests and building trust for collaboration and solutions.

Trust Model: Aligns an organization’s actions with the expectations of critical stakeholders. Building a strong foundation of ethical standards and conduct that demonstrate a commitment to responsible actions, engaging with important stakeholders in dialogue that ensures alignment on critical issues and maintaining the right level of collaboration necessary to meet expectations that evolve over time.

Sustainability Model: For a sustainable balance, communication must be grounded in ethics and then supported by science and economics. Information impacts knowledge. Ethics—or values—impact feelings and beliefs and that’s what drives consumer decisions.
